Accommodation & Campsites

What facilities are available at campsites and refugios?

Facilities differ considerably between campsites. However, all official campsites have toilets, shared bathrooms and access to drinking water. Hot showers are available at most locations, sometimes only during designated hours; Los Perros has cold showers only.

Designated cooking areas are available for hikers carrying their own food. You must bring your own stove, fuel, cookware and utensils. Cooking is only permitted in the designated areas.

Some refugios can provide boiled water for preparing tea, coffee or dehydrated meals, but this should not be assumed at every location.

Restaurants, bars and small shops are available at many, but not all, locations. Their selection can be limited and prices are higher than in Puerto Natales, so hikers should not rely on the shops for all their meals or essential supplies.

Electricity and charging points are available at all locations, but access is limited and power is usually only available during the day. Wi-Fi is also available, but it is generally slow and usually subject to a fee. Bring a fully charged power bank and do not rely on having a stable internet connection during the trek.

Towels and toiletries are not provided.
