Accommodation & Campsites

Is the camping equipment provided at the campsites suitable for Patagonian weather?

All tents, sleeping bags and mats provided at the official campsites are four-season equipment intended for Patagonian conditions. The tents are weather-resistant and designed for the wind and rain commonly experienced in Torres del Paine. The sleeping bags are suitable for cold nights, while the high-density foam mats provide insulation from the ground.

However, the exact brand, model, sleeping bag temperature rating and mat R-value may vary by provider, campsite and the equipment allocated to you. TorresHike cannot guarantee a specific comfort rating or R-value.

Temperatures can fall close to 0°C even during summer, and wind and rain can make it feel considerably colder. We therefore recommend bringing warm base layers and suitable waterproof clothing, regardless of the equipment included in your reservation.

If you require equipment with a particular temperature rating or R-value, consider bringing your own or renting equipment with confirmed specifications in Puerto Natales.
